The Animal Welfare Committee of the Los Angeles City Council will be meeting on Tuesday, October 2, at 3:00PM. The meeting will include a discussion of a report from the Department of Animal Services recommending a ban on the use of bullhooks and other elephant management tools in circuses and traveling exhibitions held in the City of Los Angeles.
If the City Council decides to pass this ban, it would prevent circuses with elephants from visiting the City of Los Angeles. Please take a moment TODAY to contact the three (3) members of the City Council’s Animal Welfare Committee and politely communicate the following:
- Urge the Committee members to oppose any measure that would prevent circuses and other travelling exhibitors with elephants from visiting Los Angeles;
- Ask that the Committee members seek the input of qualified elephant professionals before bringing this matter to a vote.
